Our gold jewelry is gold filled, which is basically like gold plated on steroids. The coating is over 100x thicker than gold plated. Our silver is .925 Sterling Silver which can temporarily tarnish under certain conditions such as natural hot springs, chlorine, sulfur, bleach and other strong chemicals. A silver cleaning wipe will take it right off.

Toothbrush & toothpaste work too, as does baking soda.

Expect about 5 years with proper care.
